Vastu Shastra treats the main entrance as the mouth of the home. Before thinking about structural changes, a few simple checks can make the entrance feel brighter and more welcoming.
1. Keep it well lit
A dark entrance is one of the most common concerns. Good lighting outside and just inside the door is a simple first step.
2. Clear the threshold
Shoes, bins and clutter near the door are best moved to one side or stored away, so the path into the home stays open.
3. Check the door itself
A door that creaks, sticks or does not open fully is traditionally seen as a block. Small repairs are usually enough.
4. Add a clean nameplate
A clear, well-kept nameplate is considered auspicious and also helps visitors find you.
5. Know your direction
Note which direction your entrance faces using a phone compass. This is the first thing a vastu consultant will ask for, and it shapes every other suggestion.
